The
Skeleton Coast
The Skeleton Coast is an ghostlike, foggy coast and
has a name fitting its reputation. Skeletons of ships,
whales and other marine mammals have over time been
cast high upon the shore by the Atlantic's mysterious
currents and tides. The entire coast is protected,
and is best explored from the air. The only way to
experience the region is to either visit the Skeleton
Coast Camp or join a Skeleton Coast Fly-in Safari.
Kaokoveld
In the interior the countryside climbs into a string
of even-peaked mountains -with similarity to parts
of Arizona. Concealed and forgotten in time is the
wonderful area of the, revealing prehistoric rock
art displaying paintings and engravings dating thousands
of years, a fossilized wood, bizarre rock configurations
and rare wildlife - including desert elephant and
black rhino.
Damaraland
Damaraland consists of enormous areas which are nominated
as 'concession areas' to care for the extraordinary
desert elephant, the black rhino, and other wildlife
that flourish here. These locale are managed as private
game reserves and are best visited for at least three
nights. The bird and wildlife is distinctive, but
not abundant, whilst the fortunate may catch a glimpse
of elephant or even black rhino
Etosha
National Park
In the north of Namibia, Etosha is one of Africa's
most famous game reserves. Throughout the dry time
of year, enormous herds of animals congregate to drink
at Etosha's permanent water points. Large game species
come together to provide one of the greatest wildlife
shows on earth . These range from Africa's large cats
like lion, leopard, cheetah to the mighty herbivores
like elephant, black and white rhino, giraffe, Hartman's
and Burchell's zebra and numerous antelope species.
There are over 300 bird
species in Etosha, which make it a rewarding experience
for any avid bird-watcher.
Caprivi
Strip
The Northern Caprivi Strip stretches eastwards to
its extreme boundary with Zimbabwe. Flanked by the
mighty tropical rivers of the Zambezi, Okavango, Chobe,
and Linyanti, this region teems with wildlife. This
reeded and forested area has a host of small private
lodges which offer a unique aspect to discovering
the game rich regions of northern Botswana.
